Professional development for staff who teach

Curtin Learning and Teaching banner image

Staff in an educator role have a direct relationship with students and could include lecturers, casual teaching staff (sessional staff and HDR students who are tutoring/teaching).

Professional Learning Essentials (PLE) modules and other professional learning courses

The PLE self-paced online modules are aimed at staff who are new to teaching at Curtin University. The Professional Development in Tertiary Teaching for Teaching Staff Policy requires completion of the PLE as a requirement for staff who have been working with Curtin University in an educator role* for less than two years, though all staff may complete any or all of the modules. As per the table on the attached flyer, Modules 1, 3, 6 and 7 must be completed within the first 12 months of a new contract. Together with the local area induction, completing the PLE modules will prepare staff for working with Curtin students.

ALL existing staff in an educator role are required to complete the Introduction to Assessment @ Curtin module in 2019.
